It was an unwarranted casteist remark but I don’t think it will attract Prevention of Atrocities Act as it specifies that the slurs should have been in a place with a public view or in your case maybe a group chat.. so I guess you are not in trouble on that part but being a CSE aspirant.. please understand these things can have dire repercussions in the future.. all the best for your exams

Send them a legal notice demanding compensation and if they don’t comply file a suit.. you can claim any compensation as you may deem fit.. if the matter goes to court.. the court decides the amount of compensation you will get

Report it on the cyber crime portal.. you can do it by accessing their website – cybercrime.gov.in

Create an account and enter all the details of the incident.. you will be contacted by the appointed officer in a few days..
