You could have stood your ground and say that you are not willing to let go the item as it is expensive or important for you and you are willing to cancel flying if item is not allowed.

But as you stand now, post facto, very limited option to legally pursue.

They never throw themselves, they tell you that you can’t carry and you have a choice of throwing or take the item and cancel your flying and go back home instead of next destination.

I am not a lawyer but “can be extended without written agreement” sounds difficult to stand legal ground.

Logically, How to extend? With a verbal agreement if not written? Indian law won’t recognise verbal agreement for property sale.

Any extension beyond 12-18 months needs to be explicitly signed on paper.

If not extended officially that way, you are liable to refund the money to buyer.

Courts are unlikely to enforce bayana done 20 years ago and not extended legally.

Agree with sense about Spice Jet. They are in trouble and unable to maintain right level of customer service going.

In my view, It will be difficult to get back what is rightfully yours unless BIL decides to work with you and revise the registry.

But you can file for a fraud FIR claiming manipulation by BIL. But that will complicate family/social scenario and your 1/3 ownership will get stuck in litigation as well.

I am assuming that it was 60% on the paper that your husband read and asked you to sign. Have you kept a copy of that doco? If yes, you can confront BIL.

If you have signed paper accepting 1/3 ownership then you can’t do much.

If you have paid cash then claim of 60% paid by you won’t be legally tenable.

Best option would be for your husband and you ti discuss this with BIL to understand his game.

BIL being a lawyer, paper manipulation and fraud can’t be ruled out.

Have you asked your husband? He might have used part of the payment to settle his personal debt with BIL.

Who is registered holder of balance 2/3 ownership?

Unsecured debt – credit card outstanding amount can’t be legally taken by card issuer unless someone volunteers to pay up.

Refuse this marriage and avoid future trouble for yourself and for that girl.

Marry only with the person you like and when you feel you can live together as a couple.

Are you a daily wage labourer who can’t afford a place of accommodation in city of your work for wife and future children? OR can’t afford to hire a maid for your parents?

If answer is no to above questions then its time for you to grow out of boyhood and be a man to stand for yourself first.

Police and court will not do much in time bound manner unless “agent” has scammed hundreds of ppl and taken tens of crores.

Do NOT spend money now on lawyer or police to extract 2L. As someone mentioned, just consider it as gone.

You need to visit Ahmedabad and gather other victims and file fraud FIR.

Indian police won’t act on your online complaint if you state you are not living in India. In fact they will try to find out ways to make money from you.
