See if you can request that salary be paid monthly. Since they are giving you 2 months of leave + salary, it’s not totally hopeless. You can use this time to find a new job. And since you have full time, hopefully you will be able to get a job quickly.

If your notice period as per employment contract was 2 months or less, then there isn’t anything more that you can expect (unless you are eligible for gratuity on completion of 4 years and 6 months with the same org).

Sometimes young founders (who have not managed large teams or worked with big orgs) don’t understand how to give performance related feedback. They may have seen issues for long but kept pushing the tough talk. Your last performance meeting that ended in “perform better” and the 5% increment were enough warning signs.

As for legal action, I am not sure whether any legal action can be taken against the company or whether it will be even worth it. So long as they are paying the notice period salary, giving you exit documents you should cut your losses and move on. Don’t burn bridges unnecessarily, you may need their reference in future.

Ideally in notice period you focus on handover. Company should not assign new work. May be if you are in the middle of some work then you can bring it to some logical point and then handover. These things should be discussed and clarified in the first week of notice period itself so that there are no surprises for any party in the end. Whatever work is assigned to you, do your own assessment whether you can finish it during notice period. If not then highlight to your manager. Tell them you will try your best to finish the work but there’s just too much and not enough time. They cannot extend the notice period without proper justification and certainly not at the last moment. Have clear line of communication. Be professional and don’t threaten lawyering up on slightest disagreement. It will make you look like a fool.

Take few goons and throw him out. Legal process will take 5 years. And he will enjoy the place rent free for that time.

You need to file a police report about lost passport and then apply for a reissue of passport stating lost as a reason. Otherwise RPO will ask to see the old passport.

Leave taken during notice period generally results in the notice period getting extended by those many days. It’s an industry standard. Discuss with your new employer and see if they can extend the joining date by the number of days of leave you have taken. Tell them that you had taken leave because of uncle’s passing away. The new employer has waited for so long, few days here and there will not matter much to them. If possible share the email regarding extension of notice period and your leave approval mails to the new employer.

Interesting, have read about cases in newspaper where Parents have taken the children to court for maintenance and won.

Sorry to hear about your friends’ situation. Severance is not a legal requirement. Just a goodwill gesture.

Parents can’t be abandoned. But if they have financial means and regular income then they can’t demand money from children for luxuries.

You have waited for 4 months, file RTI and you will receive the response. Max time is 30 days but usually you get reply faster.

Underrated but this. Figure out all your assets. Protect them. Then figure out all your husband’s assets and gather proof. I am sure lawyer will advice better. Don’t discuss divorce with husband until you have done this. Act normal.

Talk to a trusted friend or family member. Go back to your mother’s place for a few months. It’s a big step no doubt. But discussing with a lawyer doesn’t mean you are going to divorce your husband. Tie all loose ends and take advice of few lawyers. After that you can always seek mediation, therapy. If it doesn’t work out then you have the legal plan ready.
