Then why you wasting your time? He did not hold you at all gunpoint. That’s how much he said it will cost. You buy or leave.

You can file a case, but you will be laughed out of the court. MSRP is basically what the water would cost in a standard delivery area. If the store bought it because the owner went 70 kms to get that water, he would have to add gas and his time to the MSRP. So if it’s more, that’s what you’re paying for. Don’t shop at the store if you find a cheaper place.

Married women with 0 conscience are the bane of Indian society. This is how things will go if you don’t pay the 25 lakh.

She will file fake cases on entire family. She doesn’t have to come to court, but you have to attend every hearing for 498a. Then, you get acquitted like 3-5 years down the line. In the mean time her lawyer will file maintenance and take money from you regardless. You will file for divorce after 2-3 year mark. And by the time you’re out of all these cases, you’ll lose money and time.

My suggestion: record everything and get a divorce. Then file threatening criminal prosecution on her. And ask her that if she pays half of it back, you will not pursue this.

Good luck. NAL. Consult a good one- he will say Same.

If he can not pay, there is nothing he can do. Consultant a lawyer. Usually once lawyer is consulted, the police harassment is stopped.

Usually cases are filed on all parties at once. It’s weird she did not file on the mother already. The mother can file for domestic violence on the DIL as well. The police won’t do anything to old parents.

This is the monster that the system created and unless they fix it, marriage will fail in India.

Unfortunately there is no code effective remedy. Time is on his side. So, just wait. I hope no children in the marriage. If children exist, he has to pay something even if wife is working, and it is fair.

If the wife is working and is better off, then file for divorce. She will not get any maintenance under Crpc 125 even if she files unless she has evidence.

Fight the 498a, get a lawyer from High court. 90% of 498a are fake these days. Police are just mercenaries and know who the innocent are. It’s a sad society we live in.

There’s different views on him. His father is a very well known lawyer but people look at him as a clown in the lawyer circles.

But you have to start somewhere, and it’s not a bad thing to have a funny personality.

As for divorce- what he says is truth and appeals to the western world where people rely on hard work. People in India may be of the idea ā€œI will pay someone or use connectionsā€ – for them it’s not seem sound advice.

End of the day, divorce court in India is a circus. And everyone loses when you go to court. But women are not mature to realize this when they demand the world.

Prenups are not valid, but get in writing that no dowry was exchanged between the families. Also write the gifts that’re exchanged and who the gifts will be with, and write in the agreement what to do with the gifts in case of a divorce. Essentially you’re removing the dowry harassment out of equation.

Yes prenups are not valid, but this is a contract, and it is valid as per contract law. This will safeguard your family from 498a, and you can deal with it. A majority of high courts are accepting this these days.

As for dv- no. No pre-nup will cover dv.

                  Good luck.

Death penalty. But you can get out with good behavior after 10 years.

Did you speak to your husband about a divorce? Mutual is the quickest and best way. If he says no, then you can file lack of sex and all as cruelty.

Seems like husband doesn’t want to work and you’re the breadwinner. He will be given alimony since you’re better off than him significantly.

This is exactly the problem today. Why are you asking people to file fake cases? Because of people like you, actual woman who need help are not being able to be helped. The police and courts are so overwhelmed with bogus cases that it’s making a mockery of laws. Maybe someone should file a fake case on people like you and ruin your life so you’d understand the value of not filing a fake or bogus case.

Indian law at its finest. All centered to create drama. 🚮

If one of two parties wants a divorce, just give it. You’re harming the whole institution of marriage my making them prolong their misery. Justice delayed is justice denied.

                                  NAL.

                                  1. Get with a lawyer.
                                  2. Annulments in India is hard. Usually only reason that I’ve seen is impotency of the guy. No cohabitation could be used.
                                  3. Try to settle with mutual divorce. You have to live apart for a year.
                                  4. If the girl does decide to go rouge, there’s plenty of fake cases she can file and get you involved in the system. All take 3-5 years to settle and flush out. Targeting NRI’s is the latest trend because they have assets in India that these women can go after.
                                  5. Look up Fake 498a, Crpc 125. Those two are a definite. Others depend on the lawyer.
                                  6. Gather all evidences of no dowry harassment and if she has a job, gather the paystubs.

                                  Good luck!
