Look out notices only matter if they ever come to India. Why would anyone want to come to India?

Is there no checks-and-balances on police misconduct?

Also, can you really get arrested in India for not providing your name/id? US has the right to remain silent, do indian courts believe in that? Are witness statements taken under duress acceptable to the Indian trial courts?

I’m just trying to understand how deep the rot is in Indian governance structure.

“What you said is meaningful only if the marriage was also under US law or if the guy doesnt have parents/siblings and has no need to ever travel outside USA.”

This is NOT the case, India cannot file an extradition request for a US citizen because they can’t prove the girl’s allegations made in FIR in US courts. If you can’t prove a crime, no American judge with an ounce of self-respect will give a minute of his time to an extradition request.

India does not have jurisdiction over the citizens of other countries.

Yeah, but the guy in the link you sent me had parents and relatives and property in India.

OP is US citizen and he has no family in India. He doesnt have to come back to a fake and corrupt country where anyone can file any FIR against anyone because the police is anpad gawar.

If the husband is a US citizen, none of what you’ve described matters. He can divorce her in the US and show his middle finger to idiots in India.

That is why you never lend money to family or friends. Most adults have this rule.

Age of consent in Canada is 16 years.

Are you Canadian citizen and live in Canada? Do you have family in India?

Is the girl’s family Canadian citizens and live in Canada?

If both you and the girl’s family are Canadian citizens then there’s nothing for the Indian courts to do anything.

He’s in the US. The divorce process over there is soooo smooth.

Did you get married in India or US? In US, you could have added a cheating clause to the prenup and could have gotten out scott free.

Laws in India are plain fucking dumb when it comes to infidelity from either spouse.

Whatever you decide to do, stay away from India or your wife will bribe police and judge to fuck you up.

Divorce is the answer. Stop being an idiot by hinting he should get violent.

If she wants alimony, he should threaten to tell both families

I think the bigger issue you have to deal with issues divorce, not legal notice to her lover.
