MIts a husband / wife’s responsibility that they take care of their spouse and children. If the wife was given a reasonable asset – then from an inheritance standpoint – the FIL had made suitable provision.
The SIL should not be asking the FIL for funds, but he can request for help if the care of his wife is going beyond his means. This is something that needs to be worked out within the family.
