Looks like you may have to go the 498a-route on this. Because even if they sell the place, which they are allowed to if it’s in their name, the court will hold your husband responsible for providing housing for you – there are conditions that the housing must be of the exact same condition, value, status, etc.

On the lawyer search, if you’re getting a referral that’s fine but you need to know that lawyers in India are routinely bribed by the opposing party to either omit submissions to the court, submit wrong docs (delay tactics), or outright submit the documents the other party wants. Your legal strategy is disclosed as well.

I have a clip of police asking for 1 lac bribe from me. My lawyer told me I can’t use it in court because in India if you’re recording someone, you need their consent.

          The answer is inheritance tax.

Tax the Ambanis and Adanis, if they leave India and give up their citizenship take over their assets and prohibit them from doing any business in India. If they leave inspite of everything, give them a one-time 50% tax on wealth accumulated in India and then let them give up their citizenship. US has a similar process.

            25 years is a lifetime!

The real question you need to be asking yourself is – Are you prepared to fight dirty if your husband does underhanded things (like sell the house, desert you and goes off to live a life of luxury)?

Or in the words of bollywood-watching India: eenth ka jawab, pathar se?

If you mention the term “body cam” to Indian police, they’ll arrest you for pornography.

That’s the US of A, where freedom actually means what’s stated in the dictionary.

You may or may not agree with it, but people like Ye push at what the masses consider the edge of acceptable behavior to test whether the US is actually free or not.

On the contrary, I think it’s the most helpful reply.

India is not a country of rules. It’s a country where anything goes, if you have the money to throw around.

Ok, I bet you didn’t know that there is a nexus of corrupt Judges-Police-Lawyers who entrap innocent people then extract as much money from them as they can.

The entire Indian Judicial system is one BIG scam.

Indian politicians are busy sucking eachother’s Ds, you honestly think they will legislate and pass clear and concise laws so businesses and consumers can transact with eachother without friction?

The rule in India is, if you have enough money to throw in a cop or politician’s face – everything is legal for you. Otherwise the police can put you in jail even for breathing.
