It is unfortunate that you have to go through with this, your sister will be produced before the Magistrate at Odisha, there Police will seek further remand to interrogate her and you must remain present with a lawyer to oppose it and say that you are ready to cooperate with the probe.

Offering money right now won’t help you, contact a good lawyer, preferably at Odisha who can navigate the complexities and get your sister out of it. Be careful to not pay exorbitant amounts for guaranteed reliefs, your sister may have to spend a few days in custody, which sucks, but the more you try to get out of it the bigger your problems will be.

Unless the authorities take action, you won’t succeed. As for eviction, I’m unable to understand your question.

Filling up a water body isn’t that easy (legally) and you generally need to go through a long and tedious compliance process.

Get the maps of the area (official) from your local authority, see if you can locate the pond in it. Check the size of the pond, and also file objections before the municipal authorities/panchayat and the forest department as well with copies of the maps. Local water bodies play a crucial role, and they can’t be easily filled up if people feel like it – but you need to make your objections in a systematic manner before the relevant authorities.

Your welcome, no one should be made to go through with this.

As for you anticipating the sale of jewellery, what you can do immediately is file a case under the Dowry Prevention Act, stating that you anticipate that your streedhana may be sold off by her in-laws.

Getting a divorce decree under the Hindu Marriage Act on grounds of cruelty may be an exhausting process, so would recommend you prepare for the long haul as it could take a few years. At the cost of repetition, would again ask you to look after your sister first and foremost.

The laws favor women in such scenarios, you don’t have much cause for worry.

To get the money he will need to file a suit, assuming he has kept all the receipts and maintained a record of expenses which he can bring down to a specific sum he claims – which is frankly an absurd scenario which isn’t likely to play out.

File a complaint with the nearest Mahila Police Station/Regular Police Station relating to the harassment, and mention the fact that you had to call the police earlier in your complaint. One warning from them should send him running.

Consult your lawyer before taking any action. Hope things get better.

Your facts are all across the post, and I could not gather your religion so I can’t comment on the personal laws that would come into play.

Based on secular laws, you can bring cases of both domestic violence (for the harassment she has suffered) and for prevention of dowry. Please do keep in mind that the act of giving (and taking) dowry are both offences, so tread with caution. If this was her streedhana, it can be sought back during the divorce.

For divorce, you would have to proceed based on your personal law.

I would advise you to consult a local lawyer and proceed with patience, your sister’s well being is your primary concern – not teaching her in-laws a lesson. She has a mutitude of remedies available to her, but it should be used wisely.

It most likely sounds like a scam.
Consult a lawyer for details relating to municipal law.

If you feel the Police is not responding adequately then you can escalate the issue to the SP.
Keep communications in writing, and stay safe.

Call around from known acquaintances/friends or work colleagues.
If working in an established company, try consulting the panel advocate saying you have some personal work.

In cybercrime cases, if the money is still in an Indian Bank account then you have a good chance of getting it back.
Generally these scamsters divert your money to so many different accounts and route it in such a manner that it becomes tough to trace them. Communicate with the police in writing so you have a record of everything. Hope you get everything back soon.

Recovery measures (like filing cases/complaints) are rarely done for such small amounts. The person calling you has a target they have to achieve daily, and don’t care about your circumstances.

Once you pay, they will keep this up until their target (quota) is achieved. Double down, tell them you will cancel this card and then ask for a settlement.
