Lawyer here based in Delhi. Ideally, fee is something which is decided early on unless the other party wants to take advantage of you, which might be the case here. Discuss with your lawyer, and atleast have some sort of correspondence over mail or WhatsApp to fix fee. Don’t keep it vague in % wise. Even if it’s %, make sure it’s clearly decided.

Lawyer here from Delhi. Unfortunately you’re being misguided. 354 IPC was never compoundable at the instance of trial courts. And even if you have arrived at a settlement with the party, do not pay her yet.

Lawyer here from Delhi. This is probably not a scam if it came through sms and the vehicle number seems correct to you. However you shouldn’t worry. It could be resolved pretty easily.

Lawyer here based in Delhi. Initiating a complaint case would be a better way out than a civil case if you seek a refund. If you seek specific performance of the contract, file a civil suit but only if you have a solid correspondence on WhatsApp or in any other recorded forms. If you have call recordings, that would work too. Because I’ve seen a lot of cases for specific performance fall up during the stage of evidence. Secondly, realise if the lawyer’s expense was worth letting go or not because if you’re still able to get a refund without the expense, take it.

That’s how disputed properties work. Since you ask about whether or not it could create problems in future, the answer would be: it surely could. But there are quite a handful of tricks, which only seasoned property dispute lawyers would be able to tell you.

Lawyer here. It’s a good sign that the accused is starting to pay you. That in turn means, if we file a case against him, he’d pay up. Secondly we’d have to analyse our options to 1) secure the money 2) secure it the fastest way possible.

If you want to start a firm which would look into the disputes between corporate entities then you should be having a good grasp of the Companies act, Partnership act, insolvency bankruptcy code, code of civil procedure, competition laws, goods and services tax act to name a few. But if you only wish to know laws just to manage your firm, then only a basic awareness of these laws would suffice.

If you’re the complainant, there arises no scenario where the judge would ask you for ‘surety’.

You got to have a reason how the current taxation regime is affecting your legal rights or public at large. And it simply can’t be “the taxes are absurdly high, milord”. Once you’ve found out a solid reason, engage a good senior advocate and pay a hefty fee. If you got a good luck, your petition ~might be entertained~
Don’t expect it to succeed though.

Wanting to experience the dynamic field of litigation and wanting to intern from afar, would not pair up well I’m afraid. Just a piece of advice from a first generation lawyer to likewise, starting out from Supreme Court may not be an ideal scenario unless you don’t want to see yourself getting independent anytime before 5 years down the line.
